The Conflict Resolution

The latest from Jonathan Raymond—author, founder, surfer, girl-dad.

Let’s face it: it’s never been easier to dodge change. We live in a world that caters to our every whim, wrapping us in layers of convenience and comfort. It’s easy to see this in how we treat kids—how the world is softened for them, and how that robs them of resilience. It’s a world that whispers, “Just check this out.” From the couch, you can explore every corner of the globe, watch a thousand videos on how to be healthier, stronger, and more evolved—or simply be entertained endlessly.

But all of that goes in one direction. It’s consuming, not becoming. It has no friction. It goes down smooth. The change you’re craving? It doesn’t work like that. It demands more than awareness. It demands bold, uncomfortable choices. The kind of choices that force you to step off the well-worn paths of your daily routines and into the uncharted territory where real growth lives.

That discomfort you’re avoiding? It’s not about conflict with others. It’s about the quiet, epic battle within you. On one side, there’s the version of you that has mastered the art of staying safe and maintaining the comfortable status quo. On the other side is the future you—the version aching for growth, depth, and life as real as it is challenging.

You already know which version has been calling the shots. But as we close in on 2025, it’s time to face that comfortable self head-on. Map its habits. Learn its tricks. Spot the subtle ways it convinces you to stay small. True change begins with unflinching clarity—seeing the patterns that keep you tethered to the familiar.

And then, listen. Listen to those inconvenient voices inside—the ones you’ve learned to silence because they demand more than ease. Sit with them. Journal about them. Respect them. They’re not just voices; they’re the blueprint of your potential, trying to guide you toward something greater.

As you tune in, something powerful happens: the right New Year’s resolutions begin to surface. Not the superficial ones that fade by February, but the ones that feel true. The ones that challenge you to honor the hidden parts of yourself—the parts that know you’re capable of more.

In today’s video, I’m sharing a different way to approach your resolutions for 2025. A way to embrace the healthy conflicts that can make this year a turning point in your story.

Try this: Gather a few friends today or tomorrow. If you can’t meet in person, hop on a quick call. Ask everyone to watch the video first, then take turns sharing your resolutions aloud. Use this circle of accountability to support each other and stay on track.

If you don’t have anyone to try this with, that’s okay. I’m here. Just reply to this email, and I’ll be your sounding board. I answer every email personally.

Here’s to making 2025 the year of being perfectly uncomfortable.
