Taking Risks In A Chaotic World

The latest from Jonathan Raymond—author, founder, surfer, girl-dad.

Hey,

As we arrive at our 25th episode of Good Authority this week, I want to say thank you (side note: in the podcast world, getting to 100 episodes is the first major milestone in a show's life). Building a show like this is all about slow and steady, creating great content, evolving our voice, and being consistent.

While Good Authority, the book, and now the podcast, is a personal project, it’s also a product, and my standard for it is the same as the products we build at Ren and Refound. Simply put, it has to give you a different take than you’d find anywhere else; otherwise, why bother?

This brings me to our guest for this week's show, Christian Idiodi. Christian has been a product leader for over 15 years, building teams and developing enterprise and consumer products that have shaped companies like CareerBuilder and Merrill Corporation and clients like Microsoft, Starbucks, and Squarespace.

He’s currently a Partner at the Silicon Valley Product Group and is also doing fantastic work in Africa to provide young tech entrepreneurs with the same opportunities we have here in the States.

Christian and I delved into a rich conversation about technology, product development, and the importance of human skills like empathy and curiosity. We discussed how we all need to upskill in the current environment, especially with the rise of AI.

This conversation is valuable whether you're in the product field or not, as it touches on how we show up and take risks in a chaotic modern world, think about emerging technology, and consider the role of government in opening opportunities for others, especially our kids.

I know you’ll enjoy this one … Christian’s energy is infectious!

Jonathan

P.S. If you’ve left us one of a growing number of positive reviews on Apple and Spotify, an extra thank you. If you haven’t yet, I’d really appreciate it.
